How to Request Retirement Counseling Through FedHR
|
|
|
|
For members planning to retire this year, the following steps can be used to request retirement counseling.
To begin the retirement counseling process, go to the Division of Employee Services website and select the FedHR tile. Log in using your PIV card credentials through Single Sign-On (SSO).
- Select Open New Case / Ask HR.
- Follow the prompts, answer the questions, and submit your retirement inquiry.
- Once your case is submitted, it will be assigned to a Retirement Specialist.
The Retirement Specialist will:
- Review your personnel records.
- Prepare a retirement estimate.
- Schedule a retirement counseling session with you.
- Assist you with completing and submitting your retirement paperwork to OPM.
Please submit your retirement inquiry at least 60 days before your planned retirement date.
IMPORTANT: Employees receiving a retention bonus should closely monitor the end date of their agreement. If the retention bonus is not terminated timely when the agreement expires, continued payments may result in an overpayment and create a debt that an employee may be required to repay. HHS policy also requires management to notify employees in writing when a retention incentive is terminated.
