Kamala Harris
- Vice President Kamala Harris shared her vision with clarity and resolution during the debate, speaking directly to the American people about her commitment to supporting working people and creating an opportunity economy.
- Her plans will build up the middle-class and invest in good jobs so that everyone has a chance to compete and succeed.
- Kamala will help LIUNA members and working families by lowering Americans’ grocery, health care, and housing costs.
Trump
- During the debate, Trump was unable to articulate a coherent plan to help Americans get ahead.
- His record as President on union rights and working people gives us a clear indication of what we can expect in a second term.
- He opposed any increase in the federal minimum wage.
- He was the first President to take away the tax write-off for union dues.
- He put union busters in charge of the National Labor Relations Board.
- His Department of Labor (DOL) derailed the Obama-Biden Department of Labor’s overtime rule, blocking millions of workers from a full paycheck.
- He cut funding for OSHA inspectors and opposed improvements in jobsite safety.
And Trump’s DOL tried to rip off tipped workers by implementing a proposal that would have allowed employers to legally pocket the tips earned by the workers they employ.
Trump would like to distance himself from Project 2025 because it is extremely unpopular and would gut our union rights and union jobs. It's up to LIUNA to PUSH BACK and remind folks that if they hear about Project 2025:
It is the roadmap for Trump's 2nd term. His former staffers wrote it and some of his current campaign staff are involved. He attacked wages and union rights in his first term and failed. He hired union busters in his first term. We have every reason to believe he will do so again.
