I have over 40 years of union service and come from a long line of proud union family members. I began my career with LiUNA in 1999 as a Business Manager for Indian Health Service, Local 1386 in Phoenix, Arizona. I was active in forming the Indian Health Service National Council in 2006. Other roles with the LiUNA have included representation and organizing with LiUNA International, Indian Health Service, and as a labor representive for LiUNA Local 792 in California.
Prior to my career with LiUNA I was a member of the Carpenter’s Union and both a member and organizing representative with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. I pleage to bring a wealth of first-hand experience and knowledge as both a union member and in the role of representation and organizing the membership of Indian Health Service Local 5251.
I am honored to be serving the membership of LiUNA IHS Local 5251.
I am a 2nd generation Union Member and I started my career at Rosebud South Dakota in their Radiology department. I later moved on to the Radiology department in Winnebago Nebraska where I became the Chief Union Steward after a few years of being a Steward I was offered a Full Time Employee Representative position with Local 5251. Around 2014 I resigned from Federal service as a Radiology Tech and accepted a position as the National Field Representative position here in Beautiful Phoenix Arizona and was fortunate enough to have been selected so I can continue to fight for Employee rights.
“Know your rights. As knowing is half the battle.”
It is truly a pleasure to be working with LIUNA and the employees of the Indian Health Service again. For those that don’t know me, I have over 42 years of Human Resources experience working for the Indian Health Service. I am a Veteran and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. I’m also a proud member of the Crow Creek Sioux tribe and was raised by my Lakota Grandparents. Throughout my career with IHS, I have served at various locations. After starting my career in the Aberdeen Area, I transferred to the Phoenix Area Office. From there, I then went out to the field (where all the action really is) and provided HR services at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center and the Whiteriver Service Unit, Whiteriver, AZ. Most of my professional knowledge and work experience has been out there at the local service unit level. I am so excited to be working for you, to support you and to use my knowledge and expertise assist in making the working conditions a better place.
